🇺🇸 10 Things to do in Space Coast, Florida ⬇️

🌅 Watch sunrise from the hidden beaches on Merritt Island. Playalinda beach is 24 miles of undeveloped, protected shoreline with crystal blue waters and white sandy shores.

🚣‍♂️ Take a private kayak tour through one of the island’s three bioluminescent bays and watch as the waters light up around you with dinoflagellates and comb jellies.

🐊 Venture into the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, home to over 998 different species of animals, birds and fish. You’ll be certain to spot a few of Florida’s native alligators 👀

🚀 Explore the Kennedy Space Centre. The home of NASA and the location of every manned space launch since 1968.

🚤 Book a boat tour and get to see dolphins and manatees in the wild 🐬

🚀 Watch a live rocket launch - These happen regularly! Check the list of upcoming launches on the Kennedy Space Centre website and head to the north side of the causeway to get the best view.

🏄‍♀️ Take a surfing lesson at Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, such a fun experience even for complete novices like me.

🍈 Indulge in some Key Lime Pie - this late 19th century dessert is a Florida favourite.

🦐 Treat yourself to fresh, local seafood at Florida’s Fresh Grill, delicious food with a casual, romantic setting. We went back two nights running.

⛱️ Spend the days soaking up the sun on Cocoa Beach, a 6 mile stretch of beautiful white sandy coast.

This lovely timber framed house is Brockhampton Ma

This lovely timber framed house is Brockhampton Manor. The house dates to the late 14th century although the Brockhampton family have lived here since at least the 12th century. It’s surrounded by a wide, slumbering moat and is only accessible by crossing the water via a timber framed gatehouse which was a later addition added in 1530 to make the family appear grander than they were. In the 18th century the house was abandoned by the family in favour of a new Georgian style house they built a short distance away. I don’t know about you but I’d prefer this wonky old manor over a shiney new one any day of the week!

Ever the lover of getting out in nature, a day spent exploring Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge was the perfect introduction to Florida. This 140,000 acre nature sanctuary is home to over 998 species of wildlife, birds and fish.

The wildlife refuge, set away from such exciting activity, is a peaceful sanctuary where wildlife thrives. I’ve never seen so many alligators in my entire life, let alone one day! Unlike the crocodile they’re quite shy, don’t worry ☺️👀

The island is also home to an out of the way beach that is hidden from most. People generally go to nearby Cocoa Beach, however this is an excellent choice to visit with its long stretch of beautiful white sandy shores 🥰
