July. The month of my birth. The height of summer when the glorious English countryside is at it’s finest. It is only fitting that to celebrate my birthday and my favourite season, we went to visit some flower fields. Not just any flower fields, but the most beautiful that the UK has to offer.
These are twofold. At the beginning of July, we visited the stunning fields of the Real Flower Petal Confetti Company – post coming soon. Then on my actual birthday we headed to the enchanting Cotswold Lavender Fields. There is nothing like the scent of fresh flower fields and lavender fields have got to top them all.
A word of warning though. These fields are very popular so visit early morning or just before closing to avoid the crowds!

Where Is The Cotswold Lavender Farm
The Cotswolds Lavender Farm is a third generation family farm located in the rolling hills of the English countryside. Located in Snowshill, just 2 miles outside of Broadway in the uppermost of the Cotswolds and only 2 hours away from London.
There are a couple of other lavender farms in England (Hitchin Lavender and Yorkshire Lavender two of my other favourites) but this particular field is for me, the cream of the crop. With just under 40 different varieties of Lavender grown across over 90 acres of land, you are spoilt for choice! My particular favourite is the whimsical, Peter Pan. Just it’s name is magical.
The fields are open for most of the summer time, from June until the first week of August. Harvesting began a little early this year due to the heat wave we’ve been blessed with, although this didn’t affect our visit as they do not harvest the ‘show fields’. And what picture perfect fields they are too. If you are planning a visit, I would definitely aim for July when the fields are at their peak!
The rows of lavender are delightful to wander through. The scent is enchanting, drifting through the air for miles. If like me, you want to take this incredible smell back home with you, you can pop across the road to the lavender farm shop. There you can buy bunches of lavender, oil, soap, shampoo, bath wash, skin cream, sugar, tea and even lavender ice cream! All cultivated from the Cotswolds Lavender Farm.

Places To Stay Near The Lavender Farm
The Cotswolds are full of the most wonderful places to stay. If you were wanting to explore the area further I would highly recommend a visit to Broadway, a short drive away from the lavender fields. The best part is that it isn’t as busy as some of the other tourist hot spots in the Cotswolds. The town has a wonderful selection of shops, tea rooms, museums and restaurants to while away an afternoon. You are spoilt for choice in Broadway but below is a list of my top 5 places to stay.
If you wanted to read a bit more about Broadway or any of my other favourite places in the Cotswolds, there is a post here.
The Lygon Arms | This charming 16th century hotel is set in 3 acres of picturesque grounds and has so much to offer families, couples and the individual traveller alike, who are looking for relaxation and fun in a magical setting. Boasting a luxury spa, tennis court, swimming pool and most importantly of all (to me anyways!), award winning food. A mix of old and modern, this hotel has a wonderful historic vibe. Add this to the fantastic service provided, you really will love a stay here. For prices and availability please click here
St. Michael’s Cottage | This is the perfect stay for families! 3 bedrooms in an idyllic thatched cottage, the complete dream when visiting the UK. Situated in the gorgeous town centre, you can get lost in the charms of this cottage, which the owners have painstakingly restored to provide every possible comfort. You can click here for prices or if you prefer Airbnb you can use my code for £25 off your first booking as this beauty is on there too.

Abbots Grange | Dating back to 1320, Abbots Grange is truly historic. Set within 8 acres of gardens with views looking out over the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, location wise you couldn’t find better than the medieval Abbots Grange. This place is also family run which adds that extra special touch to your stay. The rooms feature four poster beds and roaring fires, every corner of this hotel oozes character and history. You really will get a taste of the good life. For more information, prices and availability please click here.
The Broadway Hotel | The delightfully relaxed atmosphere is the first thing that you notice when you enter the exquisite Broadway Hotel. Stylish and homely yet with an old fashioned country grace. The menu of locally sourced ingredients I can personally recommend as this is where I enjoyed my birthday lunch before we headed to the lavender fields. Located right on Broadway high street, you would be right in the heart of the town if you stayed here. To take a peek inside and find prices and availability click here.
Buckland Manor | This exquisite manor house dates back to the 13th century and like all the previous properties I have suggested, this too comes with the most beautifully immaculate gardens. Although not located in Broadway, Buckland is only 2 miles away from Snowshill and is a quaint, rural setting. The manor itself is utterly charming with historic features dotted throughout and comes with an award-winning restaurant offering guests a taste of fine dining. To view inside and find information on prices and availability click here.
