On a small lane in Nottingham city centre I stumbled upon a little gem!

This quirky, vibrant restaurant is like stepping onto Khao San road in the heart of Bangkok. Full of energy and colour and so very inviting.

There are many a Thai restaurant here in the UK but the magic of this little beauty is that it actually makes you forget where you are and imagine you’re dining in a real market place in Thailand.

Kitted out with tuk tuk seating, Thai signs (like the 7 Eleven stores we’d seek out to go into and hang out in front of the refrigerators to enjoy the cold air) that you’d find whilst walking the streets of that stunning country, the bright colours of the decor oozing life and happiness just like the friendly staff that work here. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a traditional ‘Sawadee Kap’ and a smile and made to feel welcome.

The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived and we made our way through the ‘market’ to our table, glad to find we were situated directly in front of the open kitchen where we could happily watch as our food was being prepared.

We ordered a couple lychee juices and made our way through the menu, finally picking a couple of things from the starters to begin with.

We went with a plate of Kiew Tod – Crispy wontons stuffed with minced chicken and prawn..

Some Tao Hoo Tod or Deep fried golden tofu..

And of course, no Thai meal would be complete without Tod Mun Pla, little Thai fish cakes.

They arrived almost instantaneously from the kitchen and we were quick to tuck in!

Everything was extremely tasty. The wontons were perfectly crisp on the outside and the meat inside tender and juicy.

And the fish cakes were spot on. A little spicy, a little tangy and sour. A real mouthful of flavour in every bite.

I happily devoured them all!

And couldn’t wait to sample more so we got the menu out again and picked a couple of things from the Dim Sum section.

We opted for the Chicken Gyoza, a Japanese style fried dumpling with chicken filling..

And Kanom Jeeb, a steamed dumpling stuffed with a mixture of pork and prawn.

Once again we weren’t let down on taste and readily devoured our plates, not being able to resist using

our fingers.

Having cleared our plates ofΒ tasty little morsels we decided we definitely still had room for mains so we ordered P’s favourite thing to eat whilst travelling around Thailand, a Pad Thai..

And he wasn’t let down. This was probably the most authentic Pad Thai we’ve had outside of Thailand.

I thought I’d try the Pad Ga Prao, a stir fried minced chicken with Thai basil which came recommended as a Thai classic…and it was scrumy.

You can ask them to alter the level of heat and I found asking for a medium on the spice metre was a good degree of mouth warmingly spicy.

All washed down with a nice cold An Chan Soda, a Butterfly pea juice with soda water and lemon juice.

Somehow I found my second stomach and made a teensy bit of room for dessert.

Dessert isn’t something you find a great deal of on a Thai menu but there were a few options that sounded a little different so that’s what we went for.

Khow Niew Ma Muang – A ripe mango with sweetened sticky rice..

and Glouy Chuem, caramelised banana served with vanilla ice cream were the winners!
