A Walk Through Winter Wonderland

You can’t visit New York without taking a walk through Central Park, it’s a given!

And as lovely as it is in spring or summer when it’s in bloom, it truly is magical covered in snow!

On our second morning we woke up early and set off for a stroll, following the icy paths as they wound their way through the park.

Even squidge was wide eyed and bushy tailed at this early hour!

Hoping we had something in the way of breakfast for him I’m sure.

The further we got into the park the more beautiful it became. I love the barren trees preparing themselves for the first glimmers of spring soon to come their way and the dusting of snow that lights everything up so magically.

It was an incredibly bitter day, -15 C, but that didn’t stop the fun! So long as there’s snow people will come out to make the most of it.

We headed down towards the water. To find a partially frozen over pond.

This didn’t stop the ducks from diving in and flapping about though.

Rather them than me! I made sure to keep every bit I could well covered up!! There were at least five layers and two scarves going on underneath that coat.

The next pond we came to was completely frozen over, something people were keen to take advantage of.

The skates were on and young and old took to the ice, whizzing around in whirls of laughter with grins from ear to ear.

We watched in enjoyment for a short while before pressing on in the direction of the dairy.

The sun began to peep its head out..

illuminating the snow and making it glisten.

It wasn’t enough to melt these icicles though!

Keen to keep moving, we picked up the pace a little and made our way along this famous pathway through the centre of Central Park.

There were some gorgeous sculptures to be found!

My favourite being this snowflake.

But these, of course, were only temporary. Not that Central Park is short of statues and sculptures, the park is full of them. I particularly wanted to find the Alice in Wonderland one on our wanderings.

But the more we wandered the hungrier we got and soon wanted to make our way back out into the world.

So we pushed on through and made our way out on to the streets again in search of breakfast in this fantastic city!
